The most stylish city in India, settled weekly

Everybody has an opinion on whether Mumbai dresses better than Delhi, and nobody has a way to settle it. Vybemo does. Cities go head to head every week, the rating is blind, and the result comes out on Sunday.

Crowns on Sunday

One week, three stages

A feed gives you no reason to open it on any particular day. A week that starts on Monday and crowns someone on Sunday does.

  1. MondayLobbyThe fixtures are up. You see which cities are head to head and who yours has drawn.
  2. Through the weekArenaYou rate fits blind. No handle, no city, no crowd word. Only the outfit.
  3. SundayCrownsThe result comes out, along with the King and Queen of the week.

The Lobby is the fixture list

The Lobby shows the week’s battles. 3 run at the same time, and no city fights two at once. Your city’s battle sits at the top, leaning towards whichever side is ahead. Each city is drawn as a postage stamp of its landmark: the Gateway for Mumbai, Charminar for Hyderabad, Hawa Mahal for Jaipur.

A city pulls ahead because of how its fits were rated in the Arena that week. Posting loudly about your city elsewhere does nothing. Dressing well does.

We do not publish results on this page. Past battles live in the app, with the two crowned fits from each one.

SampleThe layout of a week of fixtures. No real cities, no real numbers.
  1. 1Your city v the city you argue with
  2. 2A metro v a city nobody saw coming
  3. 3Last week’s winner v a new challenger

The Arena is blind

In the Arena you are shown one fit at a time and asked for a number out of 10, the same press and hold as anywhere else on Vybemo. What changes is what you are not shown. You get 18 Arena ratings a day, so nobody can flood a battle.

  • No handle

A famous account and a new one get the same treatment. Follower counts do not come into it, because you cannot see whose fit it is.

  • No city

You cannot vote your own side up or a rival down, because you do not know which side you are looking at. You find out when the crowns come out.

  • No crowd word

Nothing tells you what other people thought. You rate what is in front of you, which is an outfit.

Why blind is fairer

City pride is the fun of a battle and also the problem with one. If people could see which city a fit came from, the result would measure loyalty. If they could see the handle, it would measure reach. Take both away and the only thing left to have an opinion about is the outfit.

That is also why a small city can take a big one. A well put together fit from Indore is rated by people who have no idea it is from Indore.

Crowns come out on Sunday

On Sunday at 9 pm the battle is settled. Each side’s average is worked out from the blind ratings, the higher one wins, and two fits from the winning side are crowned: the King and Queen. They are its two highest rated fits, one posted by a man and one by a woman. The crown shows on the winner’s profile.

Crowns is where the blind comes off. You finally see which city each fit was dressing for, and whose side you were helping all week.

What stays the same is the rule from the rest of the app. A fit shows a word in public, and the number behind it stays with the person who posted it. You can read the full rating rules or see how privacy works on Vybemo.

How a fit makes the squad

Each city is represented by its 10 best rated fits of the past week. A fit needs at least 3 ratings to be considered, and the ranking leans on how many people rated it, so one generous friend cannot carry a fit into the squad. It is one fit per person, and seats are kept for both men and women so there is always a King and a Queen to crown.

You do not apply. You post a fit the usual way, people rate it, and if it is among your city’s best that week it is in. Surat, Kochi and Guwahati are as welcome in a battle as Mumbai. A city needs enough rated fits to field a side, so a small city with people posting beats a metro with nobody.

Until then, we have written up how ten cities dress. Start with yours, then read your rival’s.
